# Notifications

> Read your messages and alerts, and send messages to your team

Select the bell icon in the top bar to open **Notifications**. This is where you read alerts and messages from RotaPad.

## Read your notifications

* Notifications you haven't read show a blue dot.
* Select a notification to read it in full.
* Select **Mark all read** to clear the dot from every notification.

The bell icon in the top bar shows a red dot when you have unread notifications.

## Send a message

Select the **Compose** tab to write a message to your team. This tab appears only if your role allows you to send messages.
