# Rota Map View

> See where everyone is working, day by day

The **Map View** tab in [My Rota](https://support.rotapad.com/my-rota.md) shows every home with shifts as a pin on a map. Use it to see cover across your homes, or to plan a staff member's week.

## Pick a day

Use the strip at the top of the map:

* **All** shows the whole period.
* Each day shows how many shifts it has. Days with none are greyed out.
* A small dot marks today.

The map opens on today, or on the first day with shifts.

## Read the pins

Each pin is one home.

* The **number** is how many staff are working there that day.
* The **coloured ring** shows the mix of shift types, using the same colours as the rest of the rota.

When homes are close together they join into one pin. Click it to zoom in. Hover over a pin to see the home's shifts.

## Use the side panel

The panel lists the day's shifts, grouped by home. Click a home to fly the map to it. On a phone, the panel sits at the bottom and you can tap the arrow to open or close it.

## One person's week

When you look at one staff member's shifts, the map becomes an itinerary. This happens for staff, who only see their own shifts, and for anyone who picks a staff member in the filter bar.

* Pins are numbered in the order of the shifts, joined by a dashed route.
* A **Next shift** card shows the next upcoming shift.
* **Directions** opens Google Maps with directions to that home.

## Homes missing from the map

A home only appears once its location is saved. If any shifts are at homes without one, the panel shows a warning such as **1 home has no location set**. Click it to see which homes. Add its latitude and longitude under **Location** when you [edit the home](https://support.rotapad.com/manage-a-home.md).
