# Staff Logs

> Staff log the start of each shift; admins see every log in a table and on a map

Staff Logs record when and where staff start their shifts. Staff send a log from their phone when they arrive. Admins review every log on the **Staff Logs** page.

## Start your shift (staff)

**1. Open the log**

Tap the clock button in the top bar. It's labelled **Start your shift** and marked **New**.

**2. Choose where**

Pick the **Customer** and the **Home** you're working at.

**3. Check the details**

Your name, the **Date**, the **Start time** and your **Latitude** and **Longitude** are filled in from your device.

**4. Add a comment**

Add anything worth noting about the start of the shift. This is optional.

**5. Send it**

Tap **Start Log**. You'll see **Your shift start has been logged**.

> Your browser asks for permission to share your location the first time. Allow it so your log shows where you started.

## Review logs (admins)

1. Click **Staff Logs** in the sidebar under **Operations**.
2. Choose the date range and, if you like, a staff member.
3. Use the tabs:
   * **Summary** - A table of logs with date, time, staff, home, customer, location and comment
   * **Map View** - Each log as a pin where it was sent. Click a pin to see its details.

>
> A log without a location usually means the staff member didn't allow location access on their phone.
